Congratulations! You now have your P.Eng. / P.Geo. and are a professional member of APEGA. In order to maintain this status however, you need to comply with APEGA's CPD program. This program was made to ensure that members engage in lifelong learning, and it measures this using "continuing professional development hours", also known as "CPD hours".
Every three years you will need to claim 240 CPD hours, averaging 80 hours per year. The three year period is rolling. For example: it applies on 2019-2020-2021, and it also applies on 2020-2021-2022 and so on.
There are six different categories for CPD hours. The 80 hours claimed each year must be in at least three of the categories.
It is possible to earn CPD hours but to not claim them in the same year. Instead, they can be carried forward for up to two years after the date of completing the activity, and claimed on a subsequent year.
Submission of CPD hours is done online on the APEGA website, in the members portal.
